i think $1000. it wasn’t for me though. i was going to cash it at the bank for the petty cash fund at the camp i worked at. i was only 17 and i was in town to do a bunch of errands for the camp. i was very careful to guard that cheque (and then the cash) with my life.

    $200.
This is the only check I ever held in my hands LOL as in my country they are not very much used. This particular one was earned on the Internet and I was very happy to actually receive it :)

The year was 1987 and I was 18 yrs old. I worked for an eye surgeon, I began as a nanny to his son, then later worked in his office. I ran a lot of errands, and one day he sent me to a Jaguar dealership with an envelope with instructions to deliver the envelope to a certain man. I did so, turned to leave, and was almost to the door when he asked me if I wanted to wait for my receipt.

    So I did.

And it turns out I had been carrying a check for approximately $65,000, which I had just used to pay for a Lotus http://lotuscars.com/

$6,500 to pay off a credit card. This answer surprised me, because I spent more on the day I closed on my condo, but those were individual checks to the title company, the mortgage company, etc.
