All About You: Most proud

I am no longer ashamed of the person I was, because of the person I am.
I am sober now and not ashamed to admit this is the accomplishment in my life I am proud of above all others.

What are you most proud of?

The logical thing would be to say I’m proud of having raised five children, but I have great guilt over some of my parenting, so I’m going with something more prosaic–I am very proud of having written a book. It was an in-house publication, but it was dedicated to the memory of my best friend. I never thought I had the ability to write a whole 200+ page book, but I’m very proud of that accomplishment.

Gosh, it’s so hard to pick just one thing. I’m proud of the novel I completed during National Novel Writing Month in 2005, despite my cat eating the cord on my laptop and my battery dying as I was putting my daughter to bed and losing about three chapters that I had to rewrite. I’m also pretty proud of the 14 miles that I ran on Saturday — I really didn’t think I could do it.

You’d think I could dig up some academic or professional accomplishment for this one. But I’m most proud of Freya’s rally obedience titles. I trained and handled her myself for those, so it was just Freya and me, getting past the things that make us less than ideal dog sport competitors (she does not like most other dogs, I get terrible ring nerves).

It’d be the right thing to say my Masters Degree or how well my child is turning out in spite of me. But really, it was reaching a mountain summit while 7 months pregnant.
