Alright, here’s the scoop. My sites are hosted through Bluehost, and it’s been brought to my attention that since November something on my sites is causing their servers to be slammed — and by “brought to my attention” I mean the folks over at Blueshost first shut down my sites, and then send me an email stating that they’ve done so. In order to get them back up I have to call, they deactivate all my plugins, I troubleshoot the problems and try to figure out what the issue is, and then the sites are reactivated.
This has happened so far twice. There is no warning, it’s just done. Yesterday it happened for the second time, and while they were bringing my sites back up I was told about their Three Strike Policy. Basically, I have one more chance — good old number three. If it happens the fourth time? The sites will NOT be turned back on.
What does this mean? It means that I’m trying to optimize the database so that everything runs faster. Certain suspicious plugins have been deactivated, or even deleted. The techs at Bluehost tell me that everything is looking good on their end right now. I think the site is running quick from my end.
What can you do? Please, please, PLEASE let me know if you find that the site is moving slow. That is a sign that their server is having issues. It could be something, and it could be nothing. The quicker I’m able to troubleshoot it the better.
Thanks!
