Finders keepers?

If you saw someone drop at $20 bill from their pocket, and they didn’t notice they’d dropped it, would you alert them to it? What if it was $1? Or some change? When is it finders keepers and their loss is your gain?

If someone didn’t “Notice” it and I was right behind them and I did see it, then I would give it back to them. If it was 1.00…. I would also give it back as that’s just nice.
Change…I’d probably reach down to help them pick it up. As usually one notices change being dropped.

I would say it’s “finders keepers” if no one even is “looking” for it, or if i didn’t notice someone drop it, then I would say it’s mine :) My good luck for the day… An Angel dropped it :)

  2. I’d give it back to them no matter how much … even if I had to chase after them a little.

If I knew who lost the money, I would return it to them. If I found it and no one was around, I might pick it up–and use it for some kind of pay-it-forward thing (like paying for the drive thru coffee order behind mine).

To avoid being redundant I would just say ‘ditto’ to the above answers.

I’d definitely alert the person that they’d dropped their money, no matter what the amount. My daughter who is 5 has actually chased people down in the grocery store to return dropped dollars. I’m so proud of her. :-)

  6. Hi! I’m new here.

I would definitely tell them. It’s just the right thing to do. It’s theirs, not mine.

  7. Tendrils says:

Definitely give it back to them! It’s just the right, nice thing to do. :) (If it had been me, I would want someone to point it out…)

  8. Jennifer says:

If I saw someone drop it, I’d give it back.
If it was in the floor of a store, I’d give it to a clerk in case someone came looking for it.
If it was on the sidewalk, no one in sight, I’d take it. Someone’s going to pick it up….it might as well be me :)

  9. Sue says:

I would keep it…just kidding. Of course, I would tell them.

  10. laquet says:

I’d tell them regardless of the amount, but especially $20 ~ it could be their last $20!

Like Jennifer, if I found $20 on a deserted pavement (sidewalk) I’d keep it.

However last year on holiday I found a purse (no name inside) containing about €80. I handed that in at the police station.

  11. tim says:

definately I would give it back to them.

If I see $2 on the ground and no one around I am happy to pick it up but if I see who dropped it I would have no hesitation of giving it back

  12. i’d let them know, no matter the amount. if there was no one around, the place was deserted, i’d keep it.

  13. Toni says:

No question about it! I’d give it back. It may be the only money they have.

  14. Sandy M says:

What goes around comes around, and it’s true. If I kept it, I would lose out eventually. If I give it back, I will be rewarded somehow. Would definiely give it back. It might be the only money they have.

  15. LostSheep says:

If I’m behind them and notice it, no matter the amount, I’ll pick it up and give it to them.

  16. Billy says:

If I saw someone drop the money (doesn’t matter how much), then yes, I’d tell them.
Finde’s keepe’s is (in my opinion) when one finds some money (or whatever) on the ground and nobody around that could have dropped it. Then yeah, I’d take it..
