I don’t have HBO and haven’t in quite some time, so I’ve not watched a single episode of Game of Thrones. Season 2 began on Sunday and it seems that this show is popular. I was lucky enough to get disc 1 of season 1 through Netflix though (arriving today).
Do you watch this show? If you start watching a show that has back story, do you ever feel the need to go back to the first season? Or are you fine jumping in wherever?

I don’t have premium channels either, and I don’t need them. My husband is a huge fan of “The Sopranos,” as it is shown on A&E.
Whether I need the back story in order to enjoy a series depends on the series. We picked up M*A*S*H in the middle because my husband didn’t care for it; he didn’t understand the irony and didn’t care to learn. I got into NCIS around the end of the second year, I think; I enjoy the repeats — over and over — because the writing is good.
We do not have HBO, so no, I have not seen Game of Thrones, but it looks interesting. And I see, from the link you provided, that Peter Dinklage is in it and he is typically an actor I enjoy.
I usually catch HBO shows through Netflix as a referral because I happened to like something similar to it. That is how I got started with “Six Feet Under.” If I catch a show mid-season or a few seasons into it and enjoy what I see, then I definitely like to go back and start at the beginning.
We don’t have HBO either, but I’ve heard loads about it. I have seriously considered buying the instant episodes via amazon once we burned through all the Psych episodes. I forgot all about the Netflix option!
We don’t have HBO, and that’s another program I’ve never heard of. Oh, well…..
I love Game of Thrones but wont get to see Season 2 until it comes out on Netflix. Charter was charging way to much for HBO so I had it shut off.
