I rung in 2013 all snug in my bed and sound asleep when the clock struck midnight. I watched a Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie marathon with my daughter and husband, where I fell asleep on the couch, and then moved to my bed at 10:47 p.m. VERY EXCITING.
Today I was up early, started reading Girl Gone and then went to a yoga class. A good portion of my afternoon was spent explaining to my husband how the older movie Les Mis (which he decided to watch on cable) was different than the newer, musical movie Les Mis. I took my daughter to see the movie yesterday and it was really good.
How did you ring in the New Year?

We did almost nothing. Napped, shoulder exercises, football (John). We had our black-eyed peas, rice, and cornbread for dinner. John tried to boost the router strength for our wifi, and things didn’t go well. It’s working again, but needs more attention. That’ll be a job for tomorrow.
We went to a friend’s house. We ate sushi and chicken and stuffed mushrooms and cake and torte, drank wine and beer and champagne, played cards, and lit off fireworks. It was a great night, and all the kids even made it until midnight.
My daughter and I visited my husband in the hospital. A lot of walking. I had some supper and fell asleep early. (There was a basketball game, but not carried by any local stations.) I’ll be sleeping extra till this head cold moves on anyway.
Spent NYE afternoon shopping for a new kitchen sink and faucet (finally!), did a few other errands, then spent the evening at home, flipping channels. Ended up the night watching a PBS program about Toronto.
Today (this afternoon) we drove over to Cataract Falls State Park and took waterfall and covered bridge photos. Tonight, we watched a movie from 1986, “The Mission,” starring Robert De Niro, Liam Neeson, Aidan Quinn, and Jeremy Irons. Neither of us remembered hearing of this movie before.
We spent a quiet day and then went to a small party with a dozen or so friends. Had home made soup, champagne at midnight and was home asleep by 12:30.
