I take forever picking out a new purse

I take forever picking out a new purse. I like totes, but I also like shoulder bags too. How long do your new purse selection process take?

For everyday use, the attributes for a good purse don’t change. I can find them online fairly quickly — only the colors make a difference. (I don’t want a black lining because I can’t find stuff in there.) So my medium-sized courier bags — strap long enough to go over my head if necessary — are easy.

The only problem I’ve had in the past six years was finding an evening bag to carry for my son’s wedding. I wrote about it, among other things, in Distracted. Rereading that helped me distinguish between inconvenience and real problems.

I have one of those big boda-bag shaped ergonomic bags. I have carried that bag for 20 years. Well, not THAT bag, but one like it (this is my second; I bought it 10 years ago). I have no other bag.

I hate having to buy a new purse. When I find one that works (which takes forever, I carry the same one all the time (until it disintegrates). I try to keep it as small as possible and light-weight empty, so I don’t carry a lot of stuff. I do have a small black bag that I can use as a dressier purse when I don’t need to carry all that other stuff.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who takes forever picking a purse. I never thought about the black lining, but both of mine have pink lining.

When I need one, I go to katespade.com, click on sale, and scroll through. If I like one, I buy it. If not, I wait a week or two and do it again when the selection changes. It doesn’t take me long, because they are all pretty fab.
