A limerick is a poem with five lines.
Some write it while drunk on fine wine.
They rhyme and are witty
Are comical and a ditty
Please join us and write just one line.
I’ll begin with the first line, and each person can add one more line. To refresh your memory from your high school poetry course, lines 1, 2, and 5 all rhyme with each other, as do lines 3 and 4. Have some fun! Here’s the first line:
There once was a girl from New York City.

Who owned an old Siamese kitty
That cat had an itch
and started to twitch
but the girl simply said “oh what a pity”
limerick 2
there once was a man from south of kentucky
who whilst feeling decidedly plucky
set out on a drive
and got tangled in a bee hive
yet stinglessly considered himself lucky
One warm Winter morning in June…
I felt as if I’d puke.
“Line 2 is too short”
Oh, come! Be a sport!
It’s not like we’re writing a Rune!
