I’m watching America’s Got Talent and there is a lip syncing air guitar band, they are actually pretty entertaining. Do you think that’s an actual talent? Also, if you were to lip sync a song for a talent show, which song would you choose?

Of course it’s a talent …… it’s just not a particularly good talent.
If I had to lip sync I’d do it to the Blues Brothers’ version of Rawhide. I used to lip sync it at youth camps years ago and it always proved to be a favourite.

I don’t think it is talent.
I’d lip sync to Cher.

The lip syncing may not be a talent but to do it correctly and good you have to ACT like the original so the acting part would be a talent I suppose. A lot of my elm students want to lip sync in our end of the year talent show.

They are good but…that is not anything I would want to see for more than 90 seconds.
I would rather see a real talent like the old lady with her keyboard.
you know, the one who looks like she should be pushing a shopping cart through the streets of East Los Angeles!!
She will be on tonight….I better program the DVR.

That keyboard lady with the big hair is a riot!
How about the old lady with the walker who whistles? I’m not paying to see her show in Vegas, I’m just saying.
Of course it’s a talent. You realize that much of what we see in movies (music and dialog) and in music videos is actually lip synching, right? Of course it’s lip synching to the artist’s own recording, but still it takes good timing and stage presence to make it look believable.
I’d lip synch a Gilbert & Sullivan patter song because it goes by so fast nobody would have time to notice if I messed up or not.

A talent??
No, I don’t think so.
A talent seems to be a God-given gift that you nurture.
Something that is innate and waiting to be borught out.
I don’t think anyone is born with a talent for lip-syncing.
You may have a talent for music and lipsyncing may be the only way you can manifest it….maybe (and that is a reach on my part).
I’m just sayin’…….
I’d lip sync k.d. lang’s version of “allelujah”
It’s amazing.
Now that is talent.
It’s entertaining, but not a talent. I’d lip synch something from grease so I could do the cheesy dancing too.
