What remodeling project(s) have you lived to regret?
For me it was the kitchen remodel that we did ourselves about five years ago, dubbed: The Summer of the Kitchen. The walls were floor to ceiling plastic tiles and once we picked them off we realized we needed to find some way to get the glue off as well. My husband took a week of vacation from work to peel the 1/8″ of glue off the walls using a heat gun and a scraper. We decided to remove the tiles off the hallway as well. At one point we thought we started a fire in the wall and my husband took a sledge hammer to the plaster and we ended up with a huge hole. And just when we though the fun was over, the hot water pipe broke. Guess who got brand new copper pipes? The kitchen was fantastic when it was done, but oh my gosh, what a summer.

The “Pepto room” (interesting that there is a Pepto Bismol bottle in the left column as I write this!) is much pinker than I had intended (though I’ve gotten used to it by now)

Our master bathroom. We started a remodel on it 4 years ago. We got in a serious fight about it. The door got shut. And it still sits undone. When people ask about if it’s done, my response is always, “No, but I am still married.”
