Luckily, I’ve never experienced it. I understand it’s quite unpleasant.
I’ve been subject to it all my life. I can, with some concentration, fight the optical causes. Otherwise, I’m down for the count.
Do any of the meds help?
Even antihistamines can help, but I need to take them before it starts. Pressure point wristlets help as well.
Sometimes in the car I get ill, especially in the back seat or third row.
The only time I’ve ever had motion sickness is in an I-max theater when the film is from a helicopter swooping over landscapes. Dummy me – it took me a while to realize all I had to do was close my eyes and it would go away. Now I can close my eyes and say “tell me when this part is over”. 8^)
I do get motion sickness, but it is SO much better than it was when I was a child. I can now read in the car and it doesn’t seem to bother me if I’m on a larger ship, but I sitll get a bit queasy on smaller boats.
I totally forgot that our dog, Phoebe, used to get car sick. We had to practice sitting in the car in the driveway, then just driving around the block. She puked in the car more times than I can count! I finally ended when we took her to the dog park, I’m thinking the “fun” at the end of the car ride helped her get over it.
I get terrible motion sickness in cars, boats, planes, even elevators. Drugs work, but they make you sleepy; driving the car, boat, plane works a little but if neither of those is possible/available, ginger in any form helps a little. The only real cure is stopping the motion.
Doesn’t make it any easier when you live on a boat, does it.
