Not vey much. But I do wish they’d pick someone who would lead the church into the 21st century and have more respect for women.

My usual response is that it’s not my place to comment, because I’m not Catholic, or even Christian. Maybe someone from South America this time?

However, it has occurred to me that we might learn something from the process. If we locked up the congress like the Cardinal Conclave, do you think they might be able to find some compromise?

Since I no longer consider myself a Catholic, and since I think that there is little chance that a non-conservative would be chosen, I am only mildly interested.

However, in listening to the discussion about the Conclave (“can we bring chocolate with us?” “sometimes one cardinal will take another off to the side and their discussion might change the voting”) I’ve decided that this whole process is “Catholic Survivor.”

If they actually elect someone who understands that we are living in the 21st century, not the 19th, I might consider returning to the church, but not bloody likely.

Super interested. I find every bit of this process totally fascinating, down to the red shoes and signet ring. Not to mention, I am a practicing Catholic, so it has meaning that way too.

I agree, I find it all fascinating! I’m not a practicing Catholic, but the selection process and customs are very interesting.
