It seems everything in our food supply and cosmetics has some unnatural additive or preservative (parabens, phthalates, BPA, formaldehyde, sodium laurel sulfate, blue lake #40). How concerned are you with this? Do you look at the ingredients of the products you’re using or use a product because of what is or isn’t in it?

I have to pay attention to ingredients. My skin is sensitive, I have to have a lot of raw and organic foods to stay heart healthy.
I think convenience is not as important as one’s health.

If the list of chemical ingredients and additives take up more than 2/3 of the package and I have read them with a magnifying glass, I try to avoid the product.
It just kinda grosses me out to think of all the stuff that’s added to our food.

A few years ago I snapped to attention to all of this while reading an article in The Green Guide. Since then I’ve really changed the products that I use and purchase, including my food. However, my cats totally revolted at the safer cat litter. They won that argument.
I’m foolhardy. I don’t pay attention. I know I should. (I was surprised to see something called “parabens,” which means “congratulations” in Portuguese!)

We try to avoid foods with high fructose corn syrup. (almost impossible).
We also try to avoid foods with high sodium, high fat.
Don’t you just love it when they put new and improved on the box. That usually means they took something good out of the food and replaced it with something fatter, cheaper, saltier but smaller.
It happens every where. Look what they did to the 2 by 4. It isn’t 2 by 4. It is new and improved 2 by 4 is 1 and 1/2 by 3 and 1/2.
