I did ask. I got it. It doesn’t work all the time.
Sometimes the boss does not have a clue what you do. When things go smooth all the time, they think the job is easy. When your not around, things start happening.
When someone took over my job they found out it wasn’t simple. They were overwhelmed. They asked me how I did it, I told them it is the same philosophy you have when you are forced to eat an elephant.
Do it one bite at a time.

No. Do businesses even work that way anymore? I thought they were all “we’ll give you a 4.0 out of 6.0 and give you a 2% increase”.
Yes and yes, but only because they dramatically changed my job description and added the responsibilities of two laid off employees to my workload.
