Peace

There’s a bench under a tree at the far end of my mother’s garden.  It’s just a simple little wooden bench, no fancy-schmancy cushion BUT it’s just so peaceful there!  I sit, I gaze (not really looking) and I think.  I escape.

Do you ever wish you could just sit, find a quiet spot away from everyone?  So, tell us, where would you go?

I would go back to my Parents farm where I grew up. It was on the side of a small mountain, very lush and green. I used to go sit under a willow tree on the grass and escape into my own thoughts for a while. I was such a dreamer. Yup, that is definately where i would go.

Oh, yeah. Frequently. With my husband deployed and 4 ACTIVE sons, it is a necessity. Especially now that we have found out that he has been extended over there. I would go to my favorite spot in Hawaii. There is an outcropping of rocks on the beach in Waimea on Oahu. There is a tiny patch of beach tucked between some of them that is completely secluded and it became my spot when I was living there.

Oh, yes…that’s why I ran away from home last year ;) . I NEED my alone time, and with a demanding husband and five children, I have to get away sometimes to get it. I don’t have a favorite place. As long as I am on the road, and have wireless Internet, I am happy :)

  4. i actually get lots of alone time during the day, if i need more alone time, away from the phone and the computer, i take the dog out for a extremely long walk and get lost in my thoughts.

I do long for peace and quiet sometimes. I love to go and sit on the beach early morning or late afternoon. I live about sixty miles from the beach so I don’t get to do that often. I just go and sit in the swing on my back porch when I want to be alone.

This doesn’t have to do with your question, but what is the deal with the tiny smiley face next to your menu?

I want a quiet space away often, anywhere outside, sheltered with sun or gray skies or beach or trees or water. .

I either go to the YMCA and work out (with my ipod headphones on), go for a run, a bike ride, or sometimes even the library where I’ll sit and read all the magazines.

Sorry, I answered what I thought the question asked, not what it actually asked. My dream is to have my house all to myself …. with the husband and the kid gone, of course it’s cleaned and well stocked in my dream so that I don’t have anything to do but lay in on the couch in the sun and read a book. That is where I’d go for my quiet spot away from everyone.

I live out away from everything, so my favorite quiet spot is my deck. During the summer while everyone is out playing, at a friends house or even when they are tucked away in bed my favorite thing to do is go sit out there and just listen to silence .

I have a backyard pond that is often filled with frogs. I enjoy sitting by the pond listening to the frogs communicate. It’s very relaxing

My favorite place to go to sit and relax….and think is back in IL at my mom and dad’s house. There is a lake (well, now that I am older, it’s a pond) that is about 100 yards away from their backyard. I would sit there and ponder the world as a kid! It was so peaceful! I love re-visiting my spot when I am back home.

We have two spots. When we are at home, we go to our patio. It has a lot of flowers, a very active bird feeder, a glider for sitting, a table w/umbrella, our bird books, an outlet for our computers. a bamboo rug on the cement, a large rosemary plant that smells great. very relaxing.

When we go to the beach, we go to a covered gazebo at one of the beach accesses.
Nice there. We can see the ocean. We get a chance to talk to a lot of people at that spot.
