There’s a photo of my graduation on the windowsill in front of me. They were taken when I graduated from the University of Wales in 1997. I’m with two of my best friends Kevan and Estelle. I look happy (relieved) and oh so very young.
Can you see photos anywhere near you? Where were they taken? Who is in them? And what memories to they bring back?

The photo nearest to The Place I Blog is one we had enlarged and printed onto canvas. It’s also our current screensaver.
My husband took this photo on a small beach in the Algarve, very early one morning. Although he was up and about before sparrow-fart, someone else had been there even earlier and had left a sculpture which consisted of several small stones, each balancing another small stone atop. The height of each pile was about 30cm but in the photo they look considerably larger.
The photo reminds me of quiet dawns and sunsets and happy family holidays.
there is a photo of my son in his hockey gear with a little write up about what hockey means to him and his favorite hockey player (brett hull) that was signed by bobby hull (brett’s dad), which has been laminated as a keepsake for my son. reminds me of my sons commitment to hockey.
There’s a photo of my mom, myself and my brothers taken mid hike quite a few years ago (i.e. I’m still taller than both my brothers). We all look happy and healthy. It reminds me of all the vacations we used to take to the Adirondacks when I was younger.
It’s also in a really cool collaged frame given to me by a good friend.
I don’t keep photographs anywhere in the house.
They are like looking at ghosts.
I don’t like having them around.
Oh my lord, this house is filled with photos. There is no more wall space. But just around me in this room I can see lots of pictures of family, a few of my girlfriend Peggy (from Australia), lots of my best friend Gilbert (who died in 1986), and a few of Gilbert’s niece, taken in 1986, when she was a toddler(she is now an opera director who travels the world!)
infront of me is a photo collage of animals we spotted on a trip to alaska 3 years ago (bears, moose, elk, mountain goats, bison…..) and to my right is a photo frame with 3 photos of beaches in 2 places a couple hours from melbourne.
I have photos all around me. Photos of my dogs, my parents, grandparents, children, nieces and nephews!
-Near me is photos of me growing up. Don’t know what kind of memories they bring…I don’t remember much from those days. There is one that does bring back a memory. It’s a pic of me eating a popsicle. I remember cause I actually remember choking on the juice from it after the pic was taken LOL.
We have a couple of pictures of “little Velveeta” on the mantle of the fireplace.
Her name isn’t really Velveeta. My nephew would not tell what they were going to name her. We started guessing. We came up with Velveeta. I know it’s cheesy.
