Recycling

Do you have a recycling program where you live/work?  Do you use it?  What do you recycle?  Is there anything you would like added to this program?

  • We recycle a lot. At home we separate our paper, cardboard, plastic and glass. And at work we separate all that, plus we are a manufacturer so we have lots of steel scraps that gets sold to a scrapper. We also recycle the ink cartridges from the printers too.

  • We have a pretty good recycling program. The biggest things we recycle is plastic & newspapers. I wish we could do magazines, I get so many of those. I try to “recycle” those by giving to someone else to read or by donating to schools. I usually tear up my mags though, so I really need to look into a program for recycling them. Great question, everyone should be concerned about the Earth!

  • we recycle plastics, paper and glass (i think even those juice box cartons are recyclable here too!). i’m not sure how it all works though cuz we had 1 bin for paper and 1 for glass and plastics (and 2 different trucks would come to collect). now we just have one GIANT (bigger than the garbage bin) bin for everything recyclable- are they just taking it to the dump or are there people actually sorting all this??
we can only recycle plastics numbered 1,2,3. i’d like them to add at least 4,5,6 to that.
    i recycle everything i can.

  • I do ok. I recycle glass, as much pastic as possible, magazines, etc. I like doing it.

  • Here in Germany everything is recycled. We have three different garbage cans for different contents, glass containers divided into blue, green and clear glass, battery collection points in any store that sells batteries and even a place to take the corks from wine bottles. :-)

  • I try to recyle. I am not natzi about it tho.

  • we try to recycle as much as we can, paper, cardboard, plastics, tins. we are about to start an organic program with the city that takes meat, bones, grease, table scraps. our city is committed to divert 70% of our garbage to recycling by 2010 and my family is doing our best to be part of that.

  • Yes. Yes. Glass, metal, plastics (1&2), and paper and cardboard. I would like to see them add the other plastics – there are so many things made with other grades.

  • Mr. K.

I am amazed at the amount of recycling that we have in our house. Especially with the baby.

  • yes, we have a recycling program. We recycle cans, glass, bottles, paper, etc.

Yes, our town recycles. We have a special bin for newspaper and one for glass, cans and plastic. I wish they would make it easier to recycle cardboard and paper. No bins for those. Also, recycling cardboard food boxes would make a huge difference.

  • We have a recycling program here. It’s not curbside because the apartment complex doesn’t have that so we drive about 10 miles to drop it off at a recycling center.
They recycle pretty much everything with the exception of styrofoam and plastic film (like plastic-wrap and such.)
I’d like it a lot better if we could put it in a bin by the curb and have the city pick it up, but 10 miles isn’t all that bad.

  • We have a recycling program and i use it. I also use Teracycle. They will donate money to your favorite charity just by sending certain recyclables to them. They also pay for the shipping!
