Same name, different kid

Would you mind if someone else in your family named their newborn the same name as your child? Do you think it’s rude?

  1. It depends on if I like them or not. If I like them, I would be flattered.

    Rude? No.
    I wouldn’t care.
    Names evolve and change.
    Nicknames are given.
    Especially in the south.
Just call the doppleganger Bubba or Boo or Junior.
    Noone would be the wiser.

Yes. 2 of my uncles named their sons James. One was a jr, the other was named after his grandpa. (Uncles are half-brothers with different fathers). And they are the same age and both go by Jamie. As a cousin, it was really weird.

  5. Bev says:

Heck, no. Three of them are so common, it wouldn’t necessarily be because I named our kids Paul, Tom or David. (Jeri and Ned might be a different matter, but I still wouldn’t mind.)

I am Maria Nicole (but went by Nicole) and my cousin is Nicole Marie and went by Nicky. It was a bit weird but we didn’t care too much. We just thought it was funny. She’s 3 years younger than me so it was my name first haha
