Rude? No.
I wouldn’t care.
Names evolve and change.
Nicknames are given.
Especially in the south.
Just call the doppleganger Bubba or Boo or Junior.
Noone would be the wiser.
Yes. 2 of my uncles named their sons James. One was a jr, the other was named after his grandpa. (Uncles are half-brothers with different fathers). And they are the same age and both go by Jamie. As a cousin, it was really weird.
Heck, no. Three of them are so common, it wouldn’t necessarily be because I named our kids Paul, Tom or David. (Jeri and Ned might be a different matter, but I still wouldn’t mind.)

I am Maria Nicole (but went by Nicole) and my cousin is Nicole Marie and went by Nicky. It was a bit weird but we didn’t care too much. We just thought it was funny. She’s 3 years younger than me so it was my name first haha
