Screening your calls

I screen my calls. ALL THE TIME. If I don’t recognize the caller id, I don’t answer. And then it’s only if I want to talk to them.

Do you screen your calls? What about answering your door? Would you ever put a NO SOLICITOR sign on your door?

Sure I screen my calls; I think caller ID is one of the best inventions ever. I still don’t understand how so many unknowns manage to call, despite the “no call” list.

If I feel rude enough, I will answer and tell them to take me off the list, although I realize that these “contract phoners” have no control over the list.

Answering the door is different, although I do have a peephole through which I can check. People seldom come down here without a reason, since we’re at a dead end. I have become quite talented at “you’re at the wrong house.”

I screen my calls, but almost always answer. I may hang up immediately, though. We love political surveys – we figure we always screw up their expectations and results.

We don’t get door-to-door folks around here – steep hills and houses not close together, so it’s not generally an issue. I may open the “hard” door, but never the storm door. If it were a problem, I’d certainly put a “no solicitor” sign on the door.

I screen all my calls. And I don’t want a no solicitor sign on my door, as it is illegal to go door-to-door in my village.

    Yes to screening calls.
No to solicitor sign because we get almost none, but I also have a peep hole and check to see if my caller is holding a clipboard!
