Social Media

I’m on Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare, and have an Orkut account I don’t really use.  I’ve avoided Google Buzz, because I just can’t add one more thing.  What social media do you participate in?  And how much time in your day do they suck?

On on Facebook, Twitter and Orkut, but I really only use Facebook. i joined Orkut because Brasilian friends invited me, but I don’t think I’ve been there in months. Never heard of Foursquare…hmmmm….should I?

I tried Google Buzz but it seemed like a not nearly as good version of Facebook and I gave up quickly.

I’m on Facebook and Twitter, which I use with restraint (ok, sometimes I am not successful). I tried Foursquare but I really wasn’t comfortable with people being able to see the location of my house, as well as having the GPS setting turned on on my mobile all the time (sometimes it does come in handy). While I’m totally out there on the internet (with restraint) my husband is an IT guy who thinks that social media is stupid and invades privacy. He doesn’t blog, Facebook, Twitter, text message, OR email. So… there you go. I’m not sure what Orkut is. And Google Buzz? I think my husband’s head would explode if I did that, he’s already anti-Google and thinks gmail is the devil. Wanna come over for dinner? He’s got opinions. ;) And the time suck? WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much of my time. Two minutes always turns into 10.

  4. I spend way too much time reading blogs as it is, and am not interested in FB, Twitter, or the others.

I am only on Facebook. I do not twitter. I am really not that interested in Facebook. I was a Gold member of Classmates, but that is a waste of money and time. It is great if you are a gold member, but most people are not.

  6. I am completely addicted to my facebook, I don’t know at all how I survived without it. Twitter interests me but I hardly ever remember to use it.

Facebook is my primary one. It allows me to keep up with school friends, Uni friends, people I’ve met on holiday and worked with. That’s about all I need. I do have a Twitter though not many people I know do which renders it semi-useless. Back in the day I had a Myspace, oh dear!
I have GoodReads, Brazen Careerist and LinkedIn accounts which I should pay more attention to.

I love reading others blogs, it’s a glimpse of the world from a different perspective and if I wasn’t careful I could easily blog hop all day! My blog is also another time-drain, but I enjoy it. When I was studying and when I settled into a job/work experience I would/will probably spend a couple of hours a night emailing, keeping up with some blogs and social networking pages.

My boyfriend is also ANTI-social networking! He’s terrible at replying to one email, I can’t imagine him being confronted with 20 wall posts!
