Hmmm — this was traditional. My gown and shoes were new. Lotsof things were old (including the groom?). I borrowed a pair of earrings from my mother. The bridal shop contributed the blue garter as well as the sixpence for my shoe.

The something old and borrowed was the cameo necklace that belonged to my great-grandmother and that my mother wore for her wedding. New – my gown, veil, shoes. Blue – satin ribbon running through my garter.

Good heavens – that was 57+ years ago. We eloped, and I honestly can’t remember what I wore.

I was supposed to have Grandma’s pearls, but I didn’t get them in time. So I had no old. New was the dress. Borrowed was a ring from my sister at the last minute. Blue was a tiny blue earring I wore in my third ear hole.
