Parts of the Chickamauga National Military Park are in the city of Chattanooga, so that’s the closest. We’re only a couple of hours from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. There are two state parks in our county. It’s been several years since we’ve specifically visited any of them.

I’m sure there is one in Connecticut, but I’ve never been there. At the time when we were most interested, I still didn’t drive. (My husband would not have cared to go.)

It is necessary to have a companion for such outings, and I don’t know anyone else who wants to see dinosaur tracks.

I live in National Park heaven, with several “parks” listed in the San Francisco area and a couple in Sacramento, though none of them is the kind of park where you would camp or fish. I visit all frequently, especially Old Sacramento, which is part of the Pony Express trail

We live closest to Fort Harrison State Park but have never visited the park itself. We have, however, gone to Sunday brunch at the Garrison Restaurant there. The next closest state park for us is Cataract Falls/Lieber State Recreation Area, and we were there most recently on June 28th.

We have three national parks in Indiana: Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, George Rogers Clark National Historical Park, and Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial. We have been to all three, but more visits than I can count to the National Lakeshore park.

I guess Hank Aaron is the closest state park for me. I was there last week.

My favorite state park is Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park in Poughkeepsie and Highland, New York

I like the Adirondack Park. I am within 60 miles of it. I like Lake Placid, Lake George, and a bunch of other nifty spots in the Adirondack Park.
