We watched the Opening Ceremony. We didn’t “get” most of the symbolism at the beginning. But I love the parade of athletes. The acknowledgement of the construction workers was a great touch. I liked having the young athletes light the flame. I enjoy lots of the less-seen sports, and we definitely watch rowing and women’s basketball (the men, too). Plus swimming, gymnastics, etc. The short answer is Yes – that’s what’ll be on our TV.

I usually try to watch the opening ceremonies, especially the parade of nations. (Muttering to myself, “that’s not a country…”)

I’m still ticked at the Committee, but I wouldn’t take it out on the athletes. I watched some swimming, some diving, women’s gymnastics. I think we really don’t need interviewers who get right into people’s faces; don’t ask a loser, “What happened?”

    More women’s basketball today?

They promised us we would be able to watch the opening ceremonies on the ship–and we could. We could WATCH, but they never got the sound working. Major disappointment!

    Trampoline.

Kidding. Probably baseball, women’s all-around gymnastics and judo.

We watched the opening ceremony a bit here and there, but mostly waited for the end with the torch lighting. It was okay. Typically British. I loved that they ran through the construction workers, but thought it a bit lame that they used 7 torch lighters.
