Heidi? Hans Brinker? Little Women? I don’t know. But since it now touches three generations, maybe Horton Hatches the Egg.
Marjorie Morningstar. I haven’t read it in decades, but there was a time when I read it many times. Don’t know why I loved that book, but I did.
I’ll bet one reason you liked it was that it was better than the movie.
Well, I saw the movie AFTER reading the book. The movie was HORRIBLE.
Monte Walsh by Jack Shafer (terrific book – the movies definitely haven’t done it justice); Tony Hillerman’s stories – can’t think of any more right now.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Hobbit or the Alchemist. I’ve read all 3 obsessively.
Shibumi by Trevanian. I have read that one three times.
The Good Old Boys by Elmer Kelton. It is a story about a cowboy at the very end of the cowboy era.
The Sociopath Next Door, by Martha Stout, ph.d.
I usually don’t reread books, one and done is good for me. However, I have read the earlier Harry Potter books a few times as well as listened to the audiobooks too. I’m not sure why. The same goes for the earlier books in the Stephanie Plum series.
It seems to me I reread the early Harry Potters every time a new one came out. The storyline is more complicated than you can fix in a quick backtrack.
