Best in Show
Loved Turner and Hooch. We see so few movies – I can’t think of another dog movie.
As you already know, I don’t watch a lot of movies. Best in Show was very good. There may be others, but they’ll tear your heart out, like Ol’ Yeller.
I’m more likely to remember dogs from tv series. (Not Lassie.) There was once a show — black and white — The People’s Choice. It starred Jackie Cooper, but my favorite character was a basset hound named Cleo.
Did you ever watch Topper? Remember Neil, the alcoholic St. Bernard?
Loved him. The dog was the best part of the show.
Many. Best in Show is great, Milo & Otis, any of the Benjis (since we have a dog that looks like Benji), Lassie Come Home. I’m a sucker for most dog movies, except Beverly Hills Chihuahua (which I hated).
The last Benji movie I saw with my daughter when she was about 4, we had to leave the theater. The dad in the movie was being abusive towards the animals, I thought it was very strange for a dog movie.
I forgot a biggie: Where the Red Fern Grows. A tear jerker on a par with Old Yeller.
