This isn’t technically useless but it is my #1 favorite factoid in the whole world:
If you are ever at the circus and the band begins to play “Stars and Stripes Forever”, you should immediiately make your way to the nearest exit and leave.
“Stars and Tripes Forever” is the universal signal at circuses that a life-threatening emergency has occurred.

I have been waiting for this question all my life.
It will make the expression “useless trivia” a moot point since I have found a use for it.

The USS Indianapolis, the same battle cruiser that delivered the atomic bomb to Tinian Island in the Pacific, was sunk in the South Pacific by a japanese submarine a week later.
Ironically, the war was over when it was sunk. The atomic bomb had been dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Submarine captain did not know.
hundreds of sailors died. many eaten by sharks. nobody knew for days that the ship had been sunk because of radio silence.
