What I forgot on vacation

I usually travel with a small fan so that I have white noise while I sleep at night, I forgot it at home which means I either have to go a week without my white noise and listen to a squeaky fridge – OR – head to Target and buy a fan to use.

What do you usually forget on vacation?

There’s nothing I “usually” forget, but I still remember when we got to the airport (80 miles from home) and I realized I had left my credit card and medical information at home. Last time we were almost out of town when I remembered that I’d left my passport at home. I should always travel with a keeper!

I always tried to remember all the things — like my meds — that I couldn’t easily buy wherever I was going. Of course, I don’t go far any more, so it’s unlikely that I’ll be away from my comfort stuff for long.

Once I learned to keep a travel kit of all the usual toiletries and makeup, I don’t forget much. Usually there’s a walmart nearby to get those things we forget. Overseas, that might be more of a problem. I’d go get that fan!

If we’re traveling by car, it’s usually my pillow that I forget. Otherwise, it’s probably some OTC medication that I like to bring with me, “just in case,” and then we just run out to the grocery or drug store to pick up another one if it’s needed.

I once went to my mother’s for an overnight with my cousin and she remembered she had left her pillow at home, and knew she could not sleep without her pillow and her 300 thread count pillow case. We had to stop at Bed, Bath and Beyond to buy a pillow and pillow case en route!!
