I use Firefox or Chrome and usually have at least five tabs open at any point in time. Are you guilty of having a zillion tabs open in Windows?
I try not to have two many open, because they start to interfere with each other. (I often have to close Gmail because not only is it not working, but its blockage seems to affect everything else.)
Most often, though I do have five open: both emails; igoogle (now less useful since Google Reader is gone); my Movable Type page, from which — among other things — I can search my own posts; and a constantly changing page for looking stuff up, because I am always looking up *something.*
I almost always have 3 open at a time, more if I’m commenting on other blogs, particularly if they’re through Blogspot as it seems I have to be signed in and have my blog page open in order to use OpenID to comment on their blogs. That was more than you asked, I know!
That’s why I comment using my url instead of OpenID.
I find OpenID to be a huge pain. Nothing worse than typing out comment only to have OpenID not accept my password.
Exactly. Not to mention that I really hate sharing my passwords in places that may or may not be secure. (I keep a separate pw for FB, not the one that matches my user ID.)
Other than for the very first time commenting on Blogspot with my OpenID, I’ve never had to type in my password. When I’m commenting on Blogspot, it just asks for my OpenID url. The main problem I have is that a lot of times it tells me there’s an error with my OpenID, even though I’ve typed it correctly. Then I have to enter it a second time and it usually works. If I have to do it a third time, I say, “The heck with it,” and leave. The other option is to comment with my WordPress username which, for some reason, works even less reliably for me so I stick with OpenID.
Now I’m thinking that maybe I’ll go create an ID on Blogger and try commenting with that. Perhaps I can link my WP blogs to that ID…thinking out loud….
Thanks for the conversation, ladies.
I rarely have more than two windows open at a time. No particular reason – I usually don’t use more than that.
I Windows, I usually have these tabs open: Firefox , Front Page, Mailwasher, Photoshop and WordPerfect.
In Firefox I almost always have Facebook and G-mail, and Swap Bot open
I use Chrome mostly. And then I end up with 6 open – work email, personal email, personal joint with my husband email, and whatever I’m searching. More than that, and I feel a little crazy.
I’ve got ten open right now. That’s usually the way it goes.
i use chrome and i normally only have 2 windows open
